the A.L.C.W. meeting in Ellin-
ger Wednsday, July 8. Pastor
and Mrs. A. E. Flathmann were
present, and Pastor Marvin Koe-
nig of the Warrenton- Waldeck
churches was th guest speaker.

inning opening homer by Moul-

two weekends of Saurday and
Sunday, July 18-19 and July 25-

The La Grange Jaycee Demons
dropped a 5-1 decision to the Wei-
mar Vets Sunday there to bring
down the curtain of the regular
season’s play in the SCT A League.
Righthander Narvin Koehn kn-
uckleballed one-hit ball against
the Demons to gain the victory.
Only hit off Koehn was in the
top of the ninth, when Richard
Roberts doubled. Koehn st ruck-
out four.
Tilio Ruiz started on the hill
for the Demons, but gave way to
Bob Cooper in the sixth after
the Vets had gotten to him for
nine of their 11 hits and all of
their runs. Weimar counted duos
in the second and third, and one
in the sixth.
La Grange got its lone talley
in the fourth when Ricky Blume
walked, stole second, took third
on a groundout, and stole home.
Teddy Vanek was the Vets’ top
hitter, with a double and three
singlies in four times at bat.
Pete Stavinoha got three straight
doubles for runner-up laurels.

Shiner, 5-1 to seal fourth place Marceil Marburger <

the Birds will be here Sunday,

Record In Schulenburg
The La Grange Jaycee Softball
team stands, 1-1 in the Schulen-
burg Jaycee softball tourney.
The local nine bested Schulen-
burg’s ABS team, 6-2 last Friday
night, but suffered a 10-5 defeat
to the Schulenburg Strickland
Those attending from here were team Monday night.

Chas. Harbers, John L. Giese,
L. W. Meinen, William Foss, Ed-
win Schroeder, Gus Freudenberg,
Fritz Miller and Howard Tay-
lor.
Miss Shirley Grant, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Grant
was crowned queen of the Me
Dade watermelon Festival Sat-
urday. She is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Trueper.
TO MEET
Plum Lodge No. 238 will hold
of The La Grange one-mile oval
track, said a large number of
horses will be appearing for the
summer meet seeking to be rated
tn competition with outstanding
running quarter horses of the
area. He invited the public to
attend the races which will be the
only approved quarter horse
races in die local area until Sep-
tember, when the La* Grange
Track will feature special races
during the Fayette County Fair at
La Grange.
La Grange Downs is located
just east of Highway 77 seven
miles north of La Grange.
The feature attraction during
the coming race meet will be the
running of the Futurity for Two-
year olds with Trails being held
Sunay, July 19 and Finals Sun-
day, July 26.
La Grange Downs has a ten-
horse starting gate and is fully
equipped to conduct approved Qu-
arter and Thoroughbred races.
Electric timing devices and tele-
photos are used for all races giv-
ing immediate and accurate re-
sults.
Charlie Giesber, well-known
to La Grange area sportsmen, is
the announcer.
Steel grandstands at the finish
line give a birds-eye view of all
races to all fans. Concessions
stands are located to accomodate
everyone. Hamburgers and bar-
becue are served during the noon
and evening mealtimes.
