announeeinent from Post Master L.
A. Turner that house to house mail
delivery in Burleson would start Oct.

is one of many things for the better
that has taken pluce at the local post
office since Mr. Turner assumed his
present position January 1956. lie
has worked hard to get the mail de-
livery service for Burleson, and this
will be revealed at half-time
ceremonies at the game. Gifts,
donated by the merchants and
by the student council, will be
awarded to the Queen and her
two runner-ups also.

a notice will be left in your mail box
and you may pick it up at the main
office. Approved mail boxes must be
installed at your front door, also
house numbers must be on the house
before mail will be delivered to your
house. These items are available at
your local stores. Please don't think
because you might happen to be a
good friend of one or both the car-
riers that he will leave your mail
with out installing boxes and

Roberts and Edward H. Guice

the request of local school of-
ficials, making a survey of this
school district, to assist local
authorities in determining fu-
ture needs in school facilities.

Burleson’s 4th Fire Truck
I
Assembled By Firemen
A saving of near $3,000.00 over a
commercially built fire truck is being
made possible by local volunteer
firemen assembling Burleson's fourth
fire truck, which is near completion,
with the pump being installed last
week.
The Ford chasis has a tank capaci-
ty of over 800 gallon. City Manager
Ray Bentley said. Cost of the truck
and equipment is approximately
$4,000.00, which is being met jointly
by the city and fire department.
The fire department’s only reve-
nue is derived from a 3c per $100
tax paid into our county treasury,
and that is divided into nine districts.
This year's tax for the fire depart-
ment was approximately $700.00 ac-
cording to Mr. Bentley, so you see
this department needs financial as-
sistance in a bad way. If anyone feels
like donating to the expense of the
new truck, please leave your money
at the bank.
More active members are needed
in (he fire department, and anyone
desiring information about meeting
dates please call the City office or
(he hank.
