Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pumphrey
entertained a number of their
friends with a swimming party
Tuesday evening at their ranch
six miles north of Old Glory.
About twenty couples arrived
it the lake side just before sun-
set and enjoyed a delightful
plunge for more than an hour,
after which, supper, consisting
of everything the appetite c uld
wish for, was spread, and the
hungry bathers did not hesitate
to partake of the beunlefuleats.
As the writer was present at
this enjoyable occasion, we
should be able to give the names
of those who attended. But we
were to* busy feeding our own
face and seeing that the delicate
persons. (Russell Boyd for in-
stance) were not entirely slight-
ed.
Thanks to E. E. Berryman

Saturday; Five Constitutional
Amendments are to be submit-
ted to the voters of this State,
and if you have a poll tax re-
ceipt you should go and exercise
your privilege We can't hon-
estly say that we are for all of
the amendments but we do
think some of them should be
passed Let's all turnout and
vote our sentiments.
We note the name of Jno. H.
Davis appears in the mail head
of the Daily Texan as reported
The Texan is a paper published
at the State University by the
student body, and John is an
Aspermont boy who is spending
the summer gaining knowledge
instead of loafing the streets.

/ Today
The years that are behind you
are like the blossoms of a faded
summer, are dead and gone.
The years yet to come are full
of nothing but uncertainty, You
and may never look over the
golden slope of tomorrow's sun
rise. Even tonight's stars may
come out to find that we have
journeyed into the shadows of
that mystical woodland from
vhicb no traveler has ever re
turned.
Only today is ours: today with
tunities to gladden'or
earts. to sow flowers
wi« sweeten the pathway
of others or stiog and wound
them as they pass along.
"Whit are you going to do
eboatit?" This <• the question
that comes face to face with
every person who gives a mo-
ment's shought, Will you smile
When you meet your friends and
neighbors upon the street and
fefteathem an encouraging word
end a hearty handshake; or will
you grunt and frown and with-
hold that kindness of love,
whleh today may be dew and
auMhtaa to a struggling plant,
^|init tomorrow may oe of no use.

the bar," his children are scat
tered far and wide. Maybe he
wants a cup of water, a bright
face to look into with his fading
eyes, a voice to cheer him as
with slow, unsteady step he
wanders down the sunset slope.
Go see him now; do not put it
off. Tomorrow—oh, remember,
tomorrow may never come for
one or the other of you.
Today is ours to do the work
that needs to be done. If we
neglect to cheer and help those
who walk our way through the
present hours, in a little while
we may come to a fork in the
road—to a parting in the way—
and be seperated forever.
Get out of the damp and bog-
gy bottom, where foul air of in-
defference threatens to poison
your life, quit scrrmbling thru
the thorny briars of grouch.
Stand up now—today—on the
heaven-kissed hill-tops, in th«-
fragrvnt breezes of earths com*
men kindred, under the bending
blue of human Brotherhood.—
