The District Musi'- Pi ogram for
several West Texas Conr ties will be
held at Spur, Saturday, May 2, be-
ginning at 1 !' M. The urogram will
be held in the 'harles A. Jones Me-
morial Stadium.
Officials expect to ha e more than
5,000 school children urchin hin^ing^

are to have a large percr.it of Stone-
wall county school children attend

ing of the school children, a number
of interesting speakers and musical
features have been planned. Dr. L.

public instruction and Mr. Bryan
Dickson, deputy stale supt., will both

The conference will be fostered by

School Department of the Stat« Mis-
sion Hoard of Texas, with G 8. Hop-
kins, secretary.
The purpose of the conference is to
study the possibilities of the district
association as a means of promoting
Sunday School and Vocation Bible
School work.
It is stated by .1. N. Harnett who
has been selected to lead mi the new
promotional plan, that the majority
of the increase in Baptist Sunday
school enrollment has been in a small
per cent of the Sunday schools. It is
believed by Mr. Barnette that the
district association can be used to
bring about general increase in a
larger per cent of the Sunday schools.
The Haptist Sunday School Board
of Nashville and the Sunday Schoo"
department of the State Mission
Hoard of Dallas will provide twenty
oi- more speakers and leaders for the
meeting, including Dr. T. Ij. llolcomb,
Dr. 1". E. Iturroughs, of Nashville,
and Dr. J. Howard Williams and G.
S. Hopkins of Dallas.

Convention In Abilene
Abilene., Texas, April 28, 193(5 --
Many notables have accepted invita-
tions to appear and take part on the
program at the Young Democratic
Clubs of Texas State Convention to
be held in Abilene May 8 and 9.
Governor J. M. Putrid of Arkansas
has answered an invitation to attend,
and other prominent Democrats of
that State are also expected to ap-
pear. Governor Clyde Tingley of
New Mexico has announced his inten
tion to be present, and is expected to
lead a large delegation from his
-slain Governor .lames V. Allred of
Texas has definitely stated that he
will be present and deliver an address
before the convention Friday night,
May 8, Attorney-General William
McGraw will address the convention
on the afternoon of the firsl day.
Several State Senators and mem-
bers of the House of Representatives
of Texas have indicated that they will
be present and take part in the delib-
eration of ihe convention.
J. Bryan Bradbury, chairman of the
local arrangements committee, stated
tiuu in addition to the above men-
tioned Democrats who will attend the
convention, that many others of State
and National prominence will also
attend.
All candidates for State offices will
be presented to the convention Sat-
urday morning, May 9, and be al-
lowed to make a few remarks.
From indications already advanced,
a hoi fight on the selection Of per-
manent officers and the next, conven-
tion city is expected. Several are al-
ready definitely in the running, and
the campaign is already under way.

<;ood Rains Brighten
Local Crop Prospects
Aspermont was among the favored
West Texas towns as good rains fell
this week. Farmers and ranchers had
tlieir crop hopes buoyed by the wel-
come rains.
Beginning about l :30 Monday even
ing, a heavy downpour brought 1.51
inches to this community. It was the
heaviest rain reported here for sev-
eral months.
A good rain, reported at .25 of an
inch, fell Sunday night.
The total rainfall for the pant t 'o
weeks is reported at nearly 3.5 inches
The rain Monday night practically
tilled -tock tanks. About a foot of
water was reported at the city lake
Rams this week will provide season
for planing and farm prospects are
greuly enhanced.

Revival; Re-Opens
Saturday Night
Hue to unavoidable circumstances
the revival meeting scheduled at the

week and will re-open Saturday night.
Rev. J. I!. Rowan, evangelist engaged
in conduct the services, -was delayed
and will not arrive here until Monduy
afternoon.
Rev. Harvey Dennis, who will have
charge of singing will preach Satur-
day night and Monday morning. A
visiting speaker will fill the pulpit
at the Sunday services and Rev.
Rowan will be here for services Men-
da;, night and continue throughout
the meeting.
