Clayton and Little, alias Glenn Gil*
belt, had been brought to Aapermont
in 1934 from the Texas penitentiary,
where the former was under a four-
year term for burglary and the latter
waa serving a two-year term for bur-
glary and a flve-year sentence for car
theft They were tried and convicted
of burglarizing the Stamford North-
western railways depots at Swenson
and Aapermont on January 2, 1033, in
m * y. 1934, term of 39th court.
Clayton drew a two-year additional
sentence and Little was assessed tour

|h On Sunday, June 10, while waiting
transfer back to the pen, the pair
grabbed the sheriff as he opened tU<

of continuous operation in Stonewall
County. So far as the present pub-
lishers know the paper has not miss. ',
an issue since it was established in

Mr. McDavid stated th;it a crew of
surveyors would brobably Usg'in work
there within a week. The crew when
it has reached its full strength will
probably number between 10 and 50
men. li has been suggested that as
these men will necessarily hawe to
traverse some of the lands of land-
owners in that section, that- they be
given cooperation in the matter as
their mission will not necessitate their
damaging any property, crops, etc.
No. 2 dam is one of 12 dams that
will be built along th,e Brazos and is
slated to be the second one built - -the
Palo Pinto dam is being constructed
now. Mr. McDavis stated that the two
primary purposes of the darns were
lirst, Mood control with the view later
of making them available fur irriga-
tion.

preacher.

Mr. Huling and Lee Fraser, s ;rved art
host.
A splendid supper of beans and
corn-bread, potato salad, ice tea and
coffee, with home-made ice cream for
desert was .enjoyed by all present.
This class was recently organised
with Uev. J. L). Rowan a teacher, C.
K. Iiramii n president, C. Speck vicar
president, W. H. Link, 2nd vice pres-
ident, H. H. liuling 3rd vice president,
W. H. Wright Uth vice pnesident, Joe
Hudspeth, Sr., Sect' G. 1). Hailsback,
publicity chairman. This is the first
real organized class of men we have
ever had and the promise of great ac-
complishments is very promising.
After the! supper a business session
was held and brief talks were made
by the officers and visitors. Among
'hoe visitors w-eere Mr. Krnest of Jay-
ton and Mir. G. W. Wilson of Ball-
in;ger, father of Mrs. J. L. Evans
whom he is. visiting. Mr. Wilson
though 04 years old enjoyed the Map-
per and fellowship and made a brief
talk.
Great interest was manifested in
these socials and business meting#
and plans were made for future meet-
ing,-, of tliis kind.
