“Federation” Topic
Chosen by Mrs. Lee
Dickson at Key Club
The Key Club heard Mrs. Lee
Dickson enlarge upon what federa-
tion provides and why it is benefi-
cial at its regular meeting held on
Thursday, February 8. at the homte
of Mrs. Jimmy Jack Stone.
Mrs. Dickson repeated the pur-
pose of federation, “To bring into
communication and to unit* Uw
women's clubs and organizations
throughout the world for the pur-
pose of mutual benefit, for the pro-
motion of their common Interest in
education, industrial, artistic and
scientific culture.
She told the club that the Gen-
eral Federation of Women's Clubs
offers countless opportunities for
rewarding results. It opens the
way for constructive public service
in the community, state, nation and
the world.
The group was impressed when
Mrs Dickson revealed some of the
reforms with which General Wom-
en's Federsted Clubs hsd assisted
in bringing about such as the eight
hour working day, the first federal
child labor law, and the pure food
and drug act, and that a number
of government agencies, which are
is the taken for granted today, owe their
existence in a large part to the sup-
port of the G.W.F.C.
Mrs. John Gandy, president,
called the meeting to order. Plans
for a valentine party to be given
in the honor of the club members'
husbands were announced and pre-
paration was begun Tt win be
