EVERGREENS GROW ALONG WITH B.Y.
I Mfis
Evergreen trees donated to the synagogue in lieu of the
traditional congregational gift to its outgoing president, are
growing right along with the Day School children. Herbert
Laufman, president three years ago, and his wife, Nora, waiv-
ed their gift in favor of a touch of green for the synagogue.
Consequently the four trees, facing Beechnut, were tended
solicitously by Nora to encourage their health.
No one knows why the pair directly in front of the syna-
gogue have outgrown their counterparts to the West, but
LITTLE is BEAUTIFUL.

Making the family’s own
seder plate kept Hebrew School
classes enthusiastically occu-
pied before Passover. Here,
Annette Gunsberg’s apprecia-
tive mother, Merry Lou (Mrs.
Stanley) Gunsberg, holds the
plate her eighth grader creat-
ed. Youth Director Moshe
Schreiber led the project. Mrs.
Gunsberg said the students
seemed eager to get to Hebrew
School during the creative ex-
ercise. She plans to hang the
plate as an ornament after its
service during Passover. “Am
I proud of it!” she exclaimed.

The sun didn’t cooperate well when Jason
Leder, Aileen Yosowitz and Darryl Ryan (I. to r.)
recently cuddled up to one of the smaller trees
donated by the Herbert Laufman’s to the syna-
gogue. All three youngsters are eight years old in
the third grade. The trees’ ages are not known.
