The McWhiney History Education Group (formerly the Grady McWhiney Research Foundation) was chartered in 1996 as a Texas 501(c)3 private operating foundation. Its purpose is to further education on topics regarding the middle years of the 19th century in American history, topics in Texas history and culture, and topics in military history. The McWhiney Group seeks to promote, encourage, and fund research, writing, symposia, and publishing on subjects of historical significance.
