who has been a painter here since 1996, said painters usually paint walls where the wear and tear i:

District gives
Child development center
could lose accreditation
With none of the $79 million this col-
lege will receive if the bond passes Nov. 8
earmarked for construction of a new child
development center, center officials say they
risk losing accreditation.
The center built in 1958 and originally
used as an osteopathic hospital was opened
for the child development department and
center use in 1993.
Used for both child care and academic
training, the center is accredited by the
National Association for the Education of
Young Children and supports students and
70 young children, providing on-campus care
for children of students and employees.
“I thought I’d live here until the day
I died,” 72-year-old Wanda Mokry said
Tuesday in the home she just agreed to sell
to the district to make way for a Northeast
college.
Mokry, a widow, owns a one-story, three-
bedroom home on 4.5 acres at 12165 Old
Converse Road, just off the access road of
East Loop 1604 and Kitty Hawk Road.
About $125 million of the proposed $450
million bond set to go before voters Nov. 8 is
earmarked for construction of the college.
“The college told me I was in their master
plan,” Mokry said. “I could either take the
appraised value for my house, or they will
condemn it and take it by eminent domain. I
have lived here 42 years.”

The center, which provides training
and child care will not be
allocated any bond funds.
