Additional historical context: Original cornerstone for the 1876 edifice of the Fifth Street Methodist Episcopal Church, South (later renamed the First Methodist Church of Waco). When the 1876 church structure was razed in the 1960s, this 1876 marble cornerstone was placed in a wall of the narthex of the First Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs. Dr., Waco, 76710.
