DEAD WEEK

■ Blow the dust off those hound
volumes called books, kiddies, for
this next week is likely to tell an
unpleasant tale for many of you.
Waiting until the night before to
Study is the most common prac-
tice, while a few really clever
students began last week. Are you
4 putter-offer or a staunch, and
studious student, hm-rrt-m? Now
he truthful'.
Shirt Cuff
This is the time when there will
be no extra-curricular activities,
dates, etc. The female of the spec-
ies will remain in their dorm and
the men in their j'espective abodes,
poring laboriously over stacks of
books and piles of class notes.
That's the law of the jungle and
the way the cookie crumbles!
Then there is the matter of un-
fairly confiscated grades, common-
ly called "cheating." Of course, a
TSC student would never burden
his brain with such a foul idea.
Nevertheless, toe-tapping signals,
coughing, writing on. shirt cuffs,
and leaning to the side have been
replaced with the modern-day
method of merely placing an open
book in one's lap and copying di-
rectly from" same.
Mean Bone
Some profs even suggest taking
in a movie the night before the
exam to ease tension. I might add,
this is effective only if the student
has previously studied and not
waited until after returning to
glance over notes.
Profs and doctors (or whatever
their title may be) tend to become
more gentl'e of tongue and difficult
of test as exam time draws closer.
One was overheard to say, "Thea
is not a mean bone in mah body.
Some folks even leave this place
thinkiii' o' me as a friend."
"F" in Future
No sweat!! Stay calm and don't
panic over just a minute final
exam. It ony averages in as one-
third of your final grade in a
course.
There's an F in your future( and
not a Ford) as reward for not
studying this semester, especially
for finals. According to recent sur-
veys and personal experience, Tar-
leton professors care little about
the size of their next semester's
ci'ass'es. -
No "Snap-
Small reminders in the form of
report cards come around at the
end of given periods, reminding us
of their saying, "If you get out of
college without sufficient knowl-
edge of this course, it will be some-
one's fault besid.es mine."
Why, then, throw away four and
one-half months' labor when a few
extra hours of study would prevent
repeating the course? The last
week will be rough with ho "snap"
finals* included. When you have
finished a course here at one of the
nation's highly schol'asticully rated
junior colleges, you have done
something. . . .
So stick with it a little longer;
it's worth every minute of it!
