Dear Harris:
With reference to the quality claim on 6,000 bales for Messr.
Rossi in which he asked $13,350.00 for grade and staple and we in turn
Tfed $7,500.00: we requested that Mr. E. A. Penkham of Messrs. Edward
T, R >bertson & Son class for us 100 bales ESSA and 100 bales ECRA.
The grade claim for Rossi on this 200 bales averaged 33.50 points
and the staple claim 40 points, making a total of 73.50 points.
The result of Mr. Penkham's class shows the grade averages 13.75
points and the staple 21 points, or a total of about 35 points. This certainly
bears out our counter offer of $7,500.00 against their claim of $13,350.00.
We are enclosing phtocopy of the two classing reports from Messrs.
Robertson on these two lots- so to sum it up, if we were forced to go to arbitra-
tion for grade and staple we are confident the claim would not exceed $7,500.00.
This is all for your posting in case this matter comes up for disc-/
sion with Jose while you are in Brazil.
Mr. Harris L. Kempner
