dents registered at Navasota
Elementary School with an
additional 322 high school
pupils for a total of 1,148. This
compares with 1,118 last year.
At the George Washington
Carver school, 513 students
enrolled in the elementary
grades while 226 students re-
ported at the high school. The
new total of 739 is 131 over
the figure reported for the
same period last fall.
Some 110 students register-
ed at the AMT Elementary
School at Allen Farm, which
is the same as last year. At
the C-L-W Elementary School,
103 students registered, four
less than a year ago.

narian Chester Borski will be
held at St. Patrick’s Parish
Hall here Tuesday, Sept. 8, at

The honoree, who recently
completed studies at St. Mary’s
Seminary in Houston, will
leave early this month for
Rome, Italy where he will
spend the next four years do-
ing graduate work at the
Gregorian Institute.

Four Navasota Rattler foot-
ball captains for the 1964 grid
season were elected Friayby

They are Richard Hereford,

Reed Wood, all seniors and1
veteran Rattler lettermen.

ever, Coach James said only
two votes separated the four
athletes.

Chamber of Commerce in call-
ed session Monday morning
voted unanimously to conduct
a mail poll of its membership
in regard to parking meters.
Mrs. James Glover, secre-
tary, mailed out the ballots
Monday afternoon. These are
to be return to the Chamber
of Commerce office Friday.
They will remain sealed in
the envelopes in which they
are received. When the board
of directors convene in their
regular monthly session Tues-
day noon at the Colonial Cafe
the envelopes will be opened
and the ballots will be count-
ed and tabulated.
All members are invited to
attend this dutch treat lunch-
eon. However, reservations
must be made with Mrs. Glov-
er at the Chamber of Com-
merce office no later than
Monday noon.
The ballot contains only one
proposition; namely “I favor
leaving parking meters in
operation as they are at the
present time,” “I favor re-
moving all parking meters in
the City of Navasota.”
The Chamber member is In-
structed to scratch out one
statement leaving the other as
his vote.
