Dear Mother and Dad:
Herewith current position sheets, also copy of my letter
to Mehan which I hope will be self-explanatory.
I am glad at least we got some action on this score and
I also hope we can continue to get action in that regard at least.
Dad, I noticed in one of your letters you said something
about my not giving you sufficient details about Lyda Anne. I
understood from Lyda that she had spoken to you on the 'phone and
told you that she was not going to have the operation, hence, there
aren't any other details as there is no real change in her condition,
except that she seems to be a little better.
Ruth left this morning for Santa Fe, she will be back on
Wednesday. Several of her friends there, the La Farges, Taylors,
etc. seem to have a very active schedule planned for her, of course
it is Fiesta time so she will probably come back tired but happy.
Timmy has young Tim Ware visiting him and I expect
to take a crowd of them sailing on Sunday.
The papers say that the Lane crowd is asking for an
investigation and are taking the legal steps to contest the results
of the election, but from what we can see here it is pretty much
whistling in the dark. It must have been quite a strain for Clark;
I haven't seen him but Lee has congratulated him for all of us.
I went by the other day to see Omama for a few minutes.
She seemed in very good fettle, I thought. She was eating fhmch
aather vigorously and I was very pleased to find her so well.
Herb and Mary, as you know, will go down to the Sharpe's
camp at Aransas for Labor Day and Mary will probably go up to
Camden until school starts. Herb was coming down yesterday just
to chat with me, but I had a man from California in for lunch so he
postponed it.
Sorry there is so little news I can give you, but all join
in sending love,
Yours,
33
