Mr. Joseph Levy
2128 Broadway
Galveston, Texas
Dear Sir:
1 am unable to be of the slightest assistance in tracing the
parties requested by the letter signed by Mrs. Fannie Miller, apparent
address 62 Park Terrace West, New York 34.
There was quite a flow of immigration through the port of
Galveston, consisting of various European nationalities, most of it
handled through the North German Lloyd Steamship Company originating
at Bremen and coming directly here. I recall that it was during
the incumbency of Ir. H. D. Landes as mayor and I would guess it was
about 1908 or 1910. Only a very small proportion of immigrants of
the Jewish faith stayed in Galveston. Mast of them were destined
to points as far north as Kansas City, Missouri.
It is possible, but hardly probable, that these parties
might succeed in having the United States immigration authorities
dig up the records of individual arrivals or names, but 1 know of
no other way of assisting you.
Yours very truly,
11
