birth of a son, Matthew Hunter
MacDonald, April 14. 1993 at
Harris Southwest in Fort Worth
He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and
measured 22 inches long.
Grandparents are David & Mary
MacDonald of Cleburne and Bill &
Sylvia Tarin of Euless. Great
grandparents are Lillian MacDonald
of Keene, Latchie Phillips of
Everman and Rick Calabrese of
Melbourne, Florida.

#1, 2, and 3 on the May 1 ballot.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Texas
Supreme Court has ruled that the
state's system of funding public
schools in unconstitutional and has
charged the Texas Legislature with
developing a new, equitable school
funding system by June 1, 1993;
and
WHEREAS, in response to the
Court’s ruling, the 73rd Texas
Legislature has approved three
proposed constitutional amend-
ments to equalize school funding,
fund future state mandates, and help
finance school facilities; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 1,
the Equalization Amendment, will
allow the state to shift a limited
amount of funds from property-
wealthy school districts and
redistribute those funds to property-
poor school districts to help
equalize school district funding and
bring Texas one step closer to
finally solving the school finance
equity cases; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 2,
the Funding of Future State
Mandates Amendment, would pro-
hibit the state from requiring school

Our sun room is beginning to
look normal again. It has taken a
while to find new homes for all the
old chests of drawers. They are all
gone now.
The decorations from the Easter
season have been put up and the
egg tree is now a bonnet tree.
Plans are being made for the menu
for Mother's Day and Karen is
asking that you turn in your request
for the meal. This has been a great
visitation time for families to come
enjoy a wonderful meal and a good
visit with their loved ones. This is
only three weeks away. Please call
Karen.
The family luncheon last
Friday was enjoyed by a good
number. Food and fellowship was
enjoyed. Marvin had invited the
board members to meet with June
council meeting. Make plans to be
here and know your board memtiers.
We thank the ladies from the
Home Extension Club for the
crocheted baskets made for the tray
favors Easter Sunday. They were
enjoyed and appreciated. Thanks for
remembering.
Beitie Swain was busy Monday
afternoon saying good-bye to her
friends and packing to return to her
home Bertie had spent the last six
weeks here recuperating from
surgery on her hand. She is doing
so well she will resume her
household chores.
Grave side services were held
April 24th for Mr. M C. Scott in
Midlothian. "Doc” had been a
resident about three years. His
wife, Ruby resided here five years
before she passed away February
1992. Their home had been San

advantage of opportunities beyond

Debbie Roland, adviser to
Grandview Future Homemakers of
America, was one of sixteen
advisors recognized this past
weekend at the State leadership
Conference in Houston. Mrs.
Roland has been an active advisor
for fourteen years.
The Grandview School Board
met in regular meeting April 12,
1993 at 7:30 p.m. Members
present were Randy Roden, Ike
Griffith. Chuck McGowen, John
Glenn, Dr. Karl Wedel, Ken Barnes
and John Wier. Others present were
Harold Pinkerton, Superintendent;
and Randy Rice, Elementary
Principal
The meeting was opened with
prayer by Dr. Karl Wedel.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were approved as read.
The meeting moved into
Executive Session at 7:35.
The meeting reconvened in
Open Session at 7:55.
Motion was made by Ike
Griffith and seconded by John
Glenn to hire Carroll Oldham
Spradlin as a teacher for the 1993-
94 school year at state base plus 5
sick leave and 5 personal leave
days. She is hired subject to
placement. Motion earned.
Motion was made by Ken
Barnes and seconded by Dr. Karl
Wedel to extend Viola Scott's
current 92-93 contract by 10 days.
Motion carried.

to approve the high school choir
trip. Motion carried.

tion for waiver for Algebra 1-4.

WHEREAS, Proposition 3,
the Facilities Financing Amend-
ment, would allow the state to
issue up to $750 million in state
general obligation or revenue bonds
to assist school districts in
financing school facilities, provid-
mg needed relief to growing school
districts and addressing the courts'
concern that the state provide for
school facilities needs.
NOW THEREFORE BE
IT RESOLVED on this 12th
day of April, 1993, .that the
Grandview Independent
School District Board of
Trustees supports passage of
Propositions 1, 2, and 3 as a
first step toward finally
solving Texas' current
school funding crisis and en-
suring that the state ade-
quately fund Texas public
schools in the future; and,
BE IT FURTHER RE-
SOLVED that the Grandview
Independent School District
Board of Trustees urges the
voters of our community to
vote "yes" for Propositions
1. 2. and 3. Motion passed
unanimously.
There being no further business
to come before the Board, the meet-
ing was adjourned by unanimous

College Assembly visited us. They
