Mr. and Mrs. James Adrian
Morris announce the arrival of
a baby daughter, Amy Aline,
born Saturday, December 27, in
a Grand Saline hospital. Upon
arrival, she tipped the scales at
six pounds three and three-
fourth ounces. Grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bryan
of Laneville and Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Morns of Henderson.

Funeral services for Mrs.
Maggie (Viola) Showmaker
Hendley, 72, of Wills Point were
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at
Eubank Funeral Chapel in
Canton with Edgar Kessinger
and John Featherstone of-
ficiating.
Burial was in the Kleberg
Cemetery.
.Mrs. Hendley died Tuesday at
her home after a short illness.
She had lived in Wills Point
for the last two years and was a
member of the Wills Point
Church of Christ.
Other survivors include her
husband, Matthew H. Hendley;
two sons, Henry Curtis Show-
maker and Vernon Showmaker,
both of Ennis; two daughters,
Mrs. Nellie C. Merril of Wilmer
and Mrs. Anna Dora Berry of
Waxahachie; four step-sons, E.
W. Hendley of Eustace, F. L.
Hendley of Dallas, B. C. Hend-
ley of Eustace and Dan
Hendley of Seagoville; three
step-daughters including seven
brothers and four sisters.

Drugs Jan. 8
Regular meeting of the
Canton Parent Teachers
Association will be held on
Thursday afternoon, January 8,
at 2:45 p.m. in the school
cafetorium.
The program for the day will
be “Drugs, Tneir Use and
Abuse.” An out of town speaker
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Watson. Jr.
are the proud parents of a baby
boy, Joseph Bradley, born De-
cember 7 in a Fort Worth
hospital. Grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Garland Haynes and
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Watson.
Great-grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. A. P. Watson, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Sims, Mr. and Mrs.

E. W. (Gene) Wilburn died at
his home Tuesday afternoon
following an apparent heart
attack.
Funeral services are pending
at Hilliard Funeral Home.
A native of Tarrant County,
Mr. Wilburn moved to Van
Zandt County in 1905. He was a
retired farmer and a member of
the Tundra Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Itha Mae Wilburn of
Canton; one son, Hardy Wilburn
of Dallas; one brother, Frank
Wilburn of Canton; one sister,
Mrs. Maggie Burns of Canton;
two grandchildren.

Van Zandt County 4-H Saddle
Club will sponsor a trail ride
Saturday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. The
group will assemble at the fair
grounds in Canton. Following
the ride, the will return to the
fair grounds for a weiner roast.
If the weather is too bad for
the trail ride, an alternate
program has been planned.
Everyone is invited to attend.
Directors were elected at the
last meeting of the Saddle Club.
The five men selected to guide
the club were Willie Fred Jones
of Edgewood, L. F. Crawford of
Fruitvale, J. T. Dickerson of
Grand Saline, Erwin Starkes of
Canton and Wymon Brickey of
Colfax. Mrs. Carolyn Jones was
elected secretary of the club.

BARLOW HOME
Mr. and Mrs. Newton Lewis of
Hopewell, Virginia, visited Mrs.
Myrtle Barlow during the
Christmas holidays. Mrs.
Barlow accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. Lewis to Bryan for Christ-
mas with Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Lewis, grandson of Mrs.
Barlow.
Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Hopper of
Abilene were also guests in the
home of Mrs. Barlow during the
holidays.
November sales in Van Zandt

cording to C. L. Stanford,

this is 91 per cent of the 1969
goal of $320,000.
Texas sales during November
totaled $12,962,108 while the

Nephews served as
pallbearers.
Mr. Jones passed away early
Monday in a Seagoville con-
valescence home following a
long illness. He was a retired
sheet metal worker and grocery
store operator. He moved to the
Colfax Community in 1951 from
Dallas.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Irma Cieo Jones; a son,
Benny Thomas Jones of Dallas;
two brothers, P. T. Jones and
Charles Jones of Dallas; four
sisters, Mrs. Jeff McCullough,
Mrs. Hugo Lenz, Mrs. Hendrick
Jennings, all of Dallas, and
Mrs. Gertis Inmon of Irving;
and five grandchildren.
