Mrs. C. C. Beard of Little Elm has received a letter
from the directors of the Little Elm Cemetery thankin her
and Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Beard Jr. of Dallas for a $2,200 con-
Efforts are being renewed by the Little Elm Chamb-
er of Commerce to obtain a bridge across Lake Dallas.
Petitions are being circulated seeking 10,500 signat-
ures. Signers will be sought in communities includingPi-
lot Point. Aubrey, Prosper, Tioga, Frisco, Eastvale, Lake
Dallas a nd Lewisville, Louise Steele, chamber secretary
She said that a high-span bridge is sought that woul-
dn’t interfere with high-mast craft from the Dallas Corint-
hian Yacht Club. Yacht Club members in the past have op-
posed a bridge that would curb navigation.
The most feasible site for a bridge and access roads-
because of the cost estimated at about $4 million—would
be one extending across the lake from Big Sandy Park on
the west shore, according to studies.
Signed petitions will be taken by a CofC delegation
to the Texas Highway Commission the next time a plea for
the bridge is made.

Effort is pressed to get bridge
“We intend to be better prepared next time,” Ms
Steele said. She urged that persons sign the petitions on-
ly once.
She said that a bridge across the lake was needed mo-
re than ever because of the increasing cost of gasoline.
The petition states: “The undersigned wish to state
that they travel regularly to the Little Elm area, and the
proposed access bridge across the lake joining Interstate
35, even if on a toll basis, would be of great use and ben-
efit.”
A bridge across the lake has been promoted by the
chamber several years, and for the past year it has been the
chamber’s major project.
Ms Steele said that the CofC wants to cooperatewith
