What I like about St.
Mary's is that it is a
small university. I like
my classes because they
are small like my high
school classes were. I
also liked the student-

Dear Editor:
A recent proposal for
reformation of the electoral
process involved in electing
"Freshmen Class" senators—
those senators who are
considered freshmen at St.
Mary's-met with defeat in
final deliberations at the
September 8th meeting of the
used. Why? Why must they
disregard the request of the
people they represent? Well,
the answer lies in the "off-the-
cuff" remarks of one of the
senators and the smug
agreement of three of her
coherts. At the end of the
vote, SGA President, John
James, noted that most of the
people voting against the
proposed amendment came
from the senate. In response
to this, Senator -----stated,

My orientation leader

I went to a Marianist
school in St. Louis. It's
supposed to be a good
school and the weather
is a lot nicer than in St.
Louis. Teachers and
stud-ents are really
friendly. I have been
having a great time so
far. Orien-tation was a
big help in getting me
aquainted with the
school and also in
making friends.

I really like my ND101
class because it helps
freshmen a lot. What
made me come to St.
Mary's was the faculty.
I was impressed with
the curriculum and the
fact that it is a private.

Corruption starts at a young
age... too young, perhaps.
Bearing this in mind
freshmen, if your are truly
serious about wanting your
own representation then
make your voice heard
(certianly the senate will not
do it)! When elections for the
freshmen senators are held—
boycott them because those
very same power hungry
senators will be trying to sway
upperclassman. You are only
being used. Lastly, come to
the SGA meeting every
Tuesday at 2:15 pm in Alkek

the Senate feel the heat.

senators, regardless of class
division (i.e. freshmen,
sophomores, juniors, or
seniors), are elected-at-large,
would no longer apply to the
freshmen. Freshmen
senators would only be
allowed to be voted into office
by fellow freshmen and
freshmen would have no say
