TSA Convention
Today marks the opening of the Texas Student Association
Convention on the Southwestern campus.
Having the convention here is "Southwestern's chance to
benefit" from the workshops, speakers and other convention •
activities, according to Steve Cragg. As chairman of the Stu-
dent Senate's External Affairs Commission, Cragg is responsi-
ble for organizing the workshops.
"I hope it's something we can all take advantage of",
remarked Cragg, noting that speakers "from all over the coun-
try" will be featured during the convention.
The keynote speaker at Friday's luncheon will be Rep.
Mickey Leland of Houston. "I want to urge everyone to go to,
this", said Cragg, who feels that Leland's colorful style will
provide a lively program.
Saturday's panel discussion, "The Future of Higher Educa-
tion in Texas: Cost and Quality", will feature Fred Head,
representative from Athens, who serves as the chairman of the
Commission on Higher Education in Texas,
Southwestern students who wish to attend the workshops and
activities or who would like to find out more about the conven-
tion are urged to go by the Student Senate office or contact
Steve Cragg.
Commons Comments:
"A garbage disposal can be replaced. Our stomachs can’t."
"I feel that too many starches are served. The vegetables are
cooled way too long. The menus are too repetitious. The salad
bar is good — wish it were available more often. For the prices
we pay, better meals could be offered."
