DeLotto both agreed on Ford.
Stump chose Ford because of
the "deal on oil", while DeLotto
answered, "He has more ex-
pansion in foreign policy."
Many other students said that
they were undecided, claiming
that politics, in its whole, was a
'childish game.
Now we know, though, and
everyone will just have to sit
back and watch the result.

Republicans reasoned,
Democrats defied and Undecid-
eds finally decided. A close
presidential election is now
over.
Tuesday marked a tense day
in regard to the American
future. Southwestern Universi-
ty students exercised their
right to vote, which brought out
some interesting comments on
who they voted for and why.
Freshman Lauri Brown
voted for President Ford. Her
reasons: "I voted for Ford

"To have a friend you must
be a friend. And Frank Smith
has lots of friends," said Chief
Justice Joe Greenhill.
Southwestern University
Board of Trustees member A.
Frank Smith Jr., received an
honorary Doctor of Laws
degree at Fall Convocation last
Thursday. Smith's long-time
friend, Texas Supreme Court
Chief Justice Joe Greenhill,
spoke at the ceremony.
Greenhill reminisced about
his and Smith's years together
in the same fraternity at the
University of Texas Law
School.
"One of Frank's many ad-
mirable qualities is that he has
never lost the common touch?
He is still a modest man, a man
kind to all," said Greenhill.
The Chief Justice also talked
about S.U. and problems con-
cerning higher education in the
private sector.
"Southwestern University is
a well-run institution offering
one of the best climates
available for a good
education," commented
Greenhill.
Stressing the importance of
private universities, Greenhill
said, "It is in the public interest
for Texas to have a dual system
of higher education. Inflation
has hit the private schools the
hardest. But the private in-
stitutions do a great tax service
for Texans since the public sec-
tor costs the taxpayers $1,200
' per student.
"This dual system provides a
means of checks and balances,
preventing the schools from
becoming a tool of the state,"
added Greenhill.

work!"
Jerry McKinney, freshman,
voiced, "I voted for Carter
because his stands on the
issues, especially economic,
defense, and amnesty, are closer
to the Christian convictions
which I hold. Government
should no longer be the servant
of big business but should serve
the people of this country.
Carter will at least try; Ford
will not! Another major reason
for my decision is the pardon of
Richard Nixon. I could not vote
for a man who says he believes
in 'equal justice under law',
and then would pardon Nixon
before he was charged with a
courage both experienced and
inexperienced skiers to come
.and have a great time," said
Jones.
All Southwestern students
and others are encouraged to
sign up. Time is limited and it is
important to sign up early so
there will be no problem with
ski rentals. For further infor-
mation, or to sign up, contact
Jim Ewbank 863-8260 or Craig
Jones, ext. 366.
