1 AN ACT
2 relating to the designation of a portion of U.S. Highway 290 inside
3 Harris County as the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
5 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
6 is amended by adding Section 225.059 to read as follows:
7 Sec. 225.059. RONALD REAGAN MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) The part
8 of U.S. Highway 290 in Harris County between the Harris County
9 boundary with Waller County and Beltway 8 is designated as the
10 Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway.
11 (b) The department shall design and construct memorial
12 markers indicating the highway number, the designation as the
13 Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway, and any other appropriate
14 information.
15 (c) The department shall erect a marker at each end of the
16 highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
17 (d) The department is not required to design, construct, or
18 erect a marker under this section unless the department receives a
19 grant or donation to cover the cost of the design, construction, and
20 erection.
21 (e) Funds collected under Section 225.021 for the purpose of
22 implementing this section shall be deposited to the credit of the
23 state highway fund.
24 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September i, 2005.1
