ANOTHER NEW ex-
perience occurred when two
girls sailing on Lake
Brownwood encountered a
"burble". While, sailing
around Goat Island, in their
yacht, (a yacht is any sailing
vessel) the girls suddenly got
caught in a burble.
In an effort to free
themselves from this
strange situation, they
decided to jibe. Well, a jibe is
a turn which takes a great
deal of skill to perform. They
found themselves capsized'
in most sailboats, you could
have righted the vessel and
continued, but this was a
sailing canoe and the only
thing they could do was float
with the downed craft until
someone came to tow them
ashore.
Incidently the source of
their problem — the burble
— is an air pocket which
exists on water between the
mainland and the island.
Wind coming in one direction
off the maulland and wind
coming from around the
island in a different direc-
tion, causes the sailboat to go
in a circle.
