The library at the LPI organizes and maintains a collection of space-science-related materials in a variety of media. The collection is one of the international Regional Planetary Image Facilities (RPIFs) created by NASA in 1977 for the purpose of facilitating access to planetary mission data. Reference services are provided to scientists, educators, students, media representatives, and the public requesting information related to lunar and planetary science.
