County court 1
has regular 1
meeting |
A very tricky and sensitive
subject was brought to the
table at the regular semi-
monthly meeting of the Mills
County Commissioners Court
last week.
Mary Ann Garren and Carl
Larsen, livestock owners in
the Star area of Mills County,
were at the meeting to call at-
tention to a continuing prob-
lem in their neck of the woods,
namely dogs running and kill-
ing livestock.
“We want to make the com-
missioners aware of our prob-
lem with dogs. They run cattle
into fences, killing some and
cripping others,” Larsen said.
He said the obvious killing of
smaller domestic animals was
also a problem.
Mrs, Garren wanted action
from the court in order to pur-
sue the next level of preven-
tion, legal action.
“We are asking about the
possibility of some type of or- ,
dinance to stop this serious
problem. We are trying to find
out what to do next,” she said.
She said the problem has
been ongoing for years and
producers in that area have
been forced out of the sheep
and goat business because of
the dogs. She added that a two-
year old bull in a pen was 1
harrassed by dogs until the
bull ran into a fence, broke its
neck and died.-------------**-*------------------,--o-scsc-h ly-ek* 82@99k22--y-----c-=
