backer Kent Shillings grabs
Hamilton’s Billy Nichols for a

game at Hamilton last Friday
night. The Eagles defensive
team bent a little at times, but
came away with a convincing
42-14 victory.
H. G. Brooks of Goldth-
waite was presented with a
certificate and a lapel pin in
commemoration of his 25
years of service to the Scottish
Rite Hospitals of Texas. Mak-
ing the presentation was Jack
Gorden of Brownwood.
Jody Conradt, University of
Texas women’s basketball'
coach and athletic director,
was among the six inductees
into the Women’s Sports Foun-
dation International Women’s
Sports Hall of Fame last week
in New York. Conradt, a
graduate of Goldthwaite High
School and daughter of Annie
and the late Charles Conradt
of Goldthwaite, is the
winningest coach in Division
I women’s basketball with a
record of 654-178 (78.6%).
Clark Campbell presented
an educational program during
the 4-H Awards Reception.
The program dealt with
Clark’s experience as a par-
ticipant in the “Bobwhite Bri-
gade” Camp held this past
summer. The Bobwhite Bri-
gade is a week-long camp on
quail production and manage-
ment.
Lindsey, Phil Hickman, Jerry The Reserve Champion Tom day. Top prices on lambs was
King and Charlie King. Extra Rosette went to Van Wilson $4.60 and for aged wether
points were made by Steve McCasland, also of Star. sheep was $4.50. Good calves

Wayne Jacobs. Sam Egger Floy Woodard, a Mills County for $70.00. Other livestock
and Phil Hickman were the champion livestock raiser, was sold for the usual price.

Commencement exercises
were held for Central Texas
Commercial College Septem-
ber,26, 1985, in Brownwood,
at the Adams Street Commu-
nity Center. Grayson Wetzel,
superintendent of the Goldth-
waite I.S.D., was the com-
mencement speaker for
twenty-three graduates.
Flu shots are available for patients
over 65 or those with chronic illness.
Flu shots will be available for the
general public starting October 24th.

dehorning of the Early Long-
horns when the Goldthwaite
‘ Eagles beat them. This was

been appointed supervisor for
the four Mills County Schools,
according to Cecil Egger,
county judge and exofficio
superintendent. Mr. Newton
is a 1956 graduate of Goldth-
waiteHigh School.

back Douglas Holtzclaw accu-
mulated 156 yards during the
game against the Lometa Hor-
nets, 76 yards came in one TD
run in the second quarter.
Goldthwaite continues their

4-H Winners. This award, the
highest given at the county
level, is sponsored by the
Texas Agricultural Extension
Service and its purpose is to
recognize outstanding
achievement, leadership and
contribution to the County 4-
H program.
The Mullin Bulldogs pulled
off a 52-6 win over Jonesboro.
Taking the pigskin over the
goal line for TD’s were Ricky
Shelton, Steve King, Randy
Doak, Grady G. Henry, Floyd
E. Johnston, Joe A. Perkins
and Ewell Hobart Priddy.

A crowd of men and a few
ladies went to the Bayou
bridge at Jackson crossing
Tuesday night and assisted
commissioner E. A. Duren in
keeping the logs and debris off
the rising bayou bridge. Wa-
ter rose rapidly all night and
the year was held at fair park the guide wires at the bridge
grounds on October 14. Over were packed by the rubbish
$8,200.00 worth of livestock again and again, but the bridge
