Singer follows her heart to
‘Nashville Star’ auditions

I Amy Bower is rarely seen with-
j out her karaoke machine in tow. At
, Leonard's parades and festivals, she
1 is there, sending her sweet melodies
I into the air with gentle confidence
■ i and a southern-style smile. She
I sings every chance she gets in fact,
I and sees each engagement as an op-
I portunity to brush up for a chance at
I stardom. That elusive “big break” is
r • now peeking at her through an au-

“What an honor it would be to per-
form for troops at war, or in needy
countries to help raise money to feed
them. With this opportunity to be
on Nashville Star comes the oppor-
tunity to reach so many people and
share with them not only my love for
music, but my love for God. In this,
even if it means that I don’t make it,
I want God’s will. Ibelieve that God
gave me this voice to use for His
dition room Saturday in Oklahoma
City, where she will try out for USA
Network’s talent search TV show
“Nashville Star.” All hours until
Saturday are time for prayer and
crossing of fingers.------——
“I am so excited, "Bower said.
“I just know this could be my big
break! I’ve kind ofheld it in because
I was so nervous, but now I am just
excited.” ,
Auditions are at Toby Keith’s I
& Love This Bar & Grill. It is one of
many in a sweep across 16 American
cities to cast the fourth season of
Nashville Star.
“Nashville Star works because it
showcases the best untapped musical
talent on television,” explains Jeff
Wachtel, USA’s executive vice presi-
dent of original programming. “One
thing we’ve learned over the past
three seasons is that there’s an in-
credible pool of talented performers
Amy Bower
whose voices have yet to be heard.”
On Saturday, Bower will have the
chance to sing a one-minute song
from an approved list. If she is in-
vited back the next day, she can sing
two cover songs from the list or mix
in one original song. Top contes-
tants still have to proceed through
regional competitions for a chance
to appear on the show.
Bower, a wife and mother of two,
is in new accounts at American Bank
glory, and I intend to find the path
that God has laid out for me.”
Bower said fear kept her from
seriously pursuing a singing career
until she was about 22. She is now
30, and well over her fear. She has
developed into a confident, consis-
tent singer.
. "What I love about music is the
way it moves through me and howl
see it affect people while I am sing-
ing. When I sing a song, it is my
life for that moment. I feel every
emotion as I perform the song.”
Family is an important element
to her confidence. "My life inspira-
tions have been my Mom, because
no matter what struggle she is put

to do. I don’t have to be famous and and daughter, Kayla (6), for being
