FAIR HOUSING MATTERS
April is National Fair Housing Month
This year, we commemorate the 56th anniversary of the passage of the Fair Hous
landmark civil rights law signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson on April 11, 1968, t
discrimination in housing transactions unlawful. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discr
in housing because of race, color national origin, religion, sex (including gender ider
sexual orientation), disability, and familial status.
This year's Housing and Urban Development (HUD) named the theme as "Fair Ho
'Act' in Action."
For Fair Housing Month, we at the Civil Rights Division host informational webina
with Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA). Come join us
explain the laws and provide useful information on what Fair Housing means.
