When the busy farmers' wives find
that a democratic legislature will not al-
low them to trade their eggs to a peddler,
they will do the Austin ring as the wo-
men of the United States did the repub-
lican party for passing the first McKinley
bill taxing the women's hats. They may
be forced to save up their eggs for the
men and boys to throw at the chicken
and egg statesmen who passed the occu-
pation tax law. The farmers' wives can't
run twenty to sell two dozen eggs. Un-
der this law they are not allowed to trade
or sell them at home. She can have
them presented to the peanut statesmen
in broken doses. Talk it in your school
house clubs.
If Gov. Culberson is looking after good
government, why doesn't he demand the
resignation or impeachment of the coun- j
ty attorneys along the H. & T. C. and
the Southern Pacific lines? Under Mr.
Crane's defense, all ot them are either
dishonest or incompetent, as he had to i
dismiss hundreds of cases that it was their
sworn duty under the law to prosecute-

mand their resignation.

resenting the Southern Pacific in court on
the compromise. How we political ap-
ples swim, and how the common people
grunt!
Democratic and republican leaders in
Texas have made a deal on the negro
vote as far as it is controllable. Ihe
republicans are to have it counted on
national electionss so as to fix them in
Washington on patronage. Democratic
leaders are to have a good share of the
vote or count in state and county elec-
tions to make up for the white vote of
farmers, who ask questions about such
things as the railroad compromise and
the million dollar raid on the school
fund.
It is a fusion of the official class and a
perpetuity.
