Saint Louis Nov. 15^ 1838
My Dearest Mrs Perry,
My Jones of Texas is here and,/has but a few Min-
utes to wait, though by him I purpose sending this scrawl. Mr
and Mrs Perry and myself returned home from a tour to the East
two weeks since. We fully expected to see your two youngest
Children when we were at Pittsburg and Mr Davis sent for them
lout they did not get theie before we left, if it had not been
that they were sent for we snould certainly have gone to Steuoen-
ville to see them though we know tnat the^ are quite well and
in good hands for we saw Mrs Tom Hemstead who is boarding in
— same house with your Daughter—and. has her Daughter here at
school, Cou3in Eliza requested her to pay all attention she
could to your little girl and she said she certainly would.
We had the unexpected pleasure of seeing your son
Guy at Chllicothe on his way to Gambia he was very well and in
fine sioirets. Mrs Perry Iditertains a very high opinion of Guy
and often speaks of him. We shall hope to hear from you very
soon. Mr P's health is much improved from his trip to the Springs
this summer, and cousin E. is very well now. Ox* Oest love and
respects to Mr Perry and Austin and a doubl^-portion to yourself.
