Monday, Dec. 13
Basketball Signups
The Mustang Youth Basketball League
will hold their annual sign up from 5:30-
7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13 and Tuesday,
Dec. 14, at the new East Ridge Elementary
School library building. Students who
are currently in the third through sixth
grades are eligible to participate. A child
who is 11 years old before April l. 2011,
must play in Division II. A child who is
13 years old before April 1, 2011, is not
eligible to participate. Parents should
bring their child's birth certificate and
registration fee of $30 as well as com-
plete a registration/permission form. No
late registrations will be accepted. League
play will begin in January 2011. For more

Blowout Meeting
An organizational meeting for Blowout
2011 will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Monday,
Dec. 13, in the cafeteria at East Ridge
Elementary School. All high school par-
ents are encouraged to attend. For more

Tuesday, Dec. 14
Masons
Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will
have a stated meeting on Tuesday, Dec.
14. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a
meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Members
are urged to attend.
Wednesday, Dec. 15
Flu Clinic
The Sweet water-Nolan County Health
Department will continue to adminis-
ter the flu vaccine on Wednesdays dur-
ing regular immunization clinic. Their
next immunization clinic will be held
Wednesday, Dec. 15 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for adults,
$6 for children (6 months through 18
years). They accept Medicare Part B and
Medicaid and CHIPS for children only.
Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the
County-City Library. Instructors will help
you learn to read, improve your reading
skills, improve your English skills or help
you read to your children. Call 235-4978

Thursday, Dec. 16
Story Hour
Story Hour at the County-City Library
for parents and their children will be
held at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16.
Library staff will lead the parents and

Christmas Concert
The Sweetwater Municipal Band
invites the community to their annual
Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 16
at the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium
at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the concert
is free. Along with songs played by the
band, dance students with the Sweetwater
Performing Arts Studio will be perform-
ing during four of the band's pieces.
Friday, Dec. 17
Cha mber/SEED Open House
The public is invited to attend a holi-
day open house hosted jointly by the
Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce and
the Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic
Development (SEED) from 10:30 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, at the
Chamber building, located at 810 E.
Broadway.
Saturday, Dec. 18
Roscoe Christmas Parade
Roscoe will have its Christmas parade
at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, in
Downtown Roscoe. This year's parade is
dedicated to all military personnel. Line
up will be at 10:30 a.m. Those who would
like to enter a float or be in the parade
are asked to just show up, no registra-
tion required. This year there will be a
special section for Jeeps because they
have played a big role with the military

Sunday, Dec. 19
Living Christmas in Nolan
Nolan Baptist Church invites the com-
munity to join them as they remember
the true spirit of Christmas at the Nolan-
Divide Community Center. Real people
from the community will portray Joseph
and Mary, the angel Gabriel, the shep-
herds in the fields, King Herod on his
throne and the Three Wise Men following
the star. There will be live music featur-
ing some traditional Christmas Carols.
Please enter the Community Center on
the west side through the cafeteria doors.
Supper will be served in the cafeteria
while waiting for tours to begin. The
event will take place on Sunday, Dec. 19,
2010, with tours running between 6-8:30
p.m. It will be held at the Nolan-Divide
Community Center, located at 1742 FM
126 in Nolan, TX. They will be serving
soup, sandwiches, chips, desserts, hot
cocoa and coffee. Everything is free of

Monday, Dec. 20
Blood Drive
A blood drive that will benefit Meek
Blood Center and the Nolan County
Welfare Office Food Pantry will take place
on Monday, Dec. 20. Meek Blood Center
will have two bloodmobiles parked at the
Nolan County Courthouse from 10 a.m.
until 6 p.m. Donors are asked to bring
at least two non-perishable food items
to the blood drive. In return, those who
donate blood will receive a long-sleeve
T-shirt and a $5 Sonic gift card.
Wednesday, Dec. 22
Flu Clinic
There will be no immunization clinic
on Wednesday, Dec. 22, due to Christmas
holiday.

GED Classes
New students are now being accepted
for GED classes. Classes are Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.
to noon and Wednesdays and Thursdays
from 6-9 p.m. Classes are free and are
held at 1200 Henderson in the old PPI

Veterans Readjustment
Counseling Services
The Veterans Readjustment Counseling
Services are the community-based profes-
sionals within the VA who welcome home
the war veteran by providing top-quality
compassionate readjustment assistance
to the veteran and their family in order to
facilitate a successful return to civilian life
within their community. They offer indi-
vidual, group, marital and family coun-
seling to Combat Veterans of all wars and
their families. Counseling is also available
to any Veteran who experienced any form
of sexual harassment or sexual assault
while serving in the military. In addition,
bereavement counseling is afforded to
the families who have lost their service
member while on Active Duty. A Vet
Center Counselor will be available in
Sweetwater on Thursdays beginning in
December to better serve the surround-
ing community. The Taylor County Vet
Center looks forward to serving Veterans
and their families in this community. For

Coats For Kids
Donations of gently worn coats for
children can be dropped off at Bahlman
Cleaners, located at 910 E. Third Street
in Sweetwater.
Parks Being Winterized
As of Nov. 24, 2010, The City of
Sweetwater Public Works Department
will be winterizing all Parks, Sweetwater
Cemetery and Lake Sweetwater camp-
ground restrooms by turning off the water
to these facilities for the remainder of the
cold season. For information concerning
the use of park facilities, please contact
the Sweetwater City Service Center at
325-235-1297 or 325-235-5003.
Food For Fines
The County-City Library will be col-
lecting food for fines during the month of
December. $1 of fines will be forgiven for
every non-perishable food item brought
to the library. The food collected will ben-
efit Goodfellows.
Men's Downtown Bible Class
Every Sunday, at 9 a.m., the Men's
Downtown Bible Class will meet at the
Masonic Lodge. An imitation is extendec
to all men to come and enjoy coffee,
donuts and worship before church. The
Masonic Lodge is located on the corner
of Oak and 4th.
Woman's Forum
The Sweetwater Woman's Forum meets
ever}7 last Tuesday of the month at Bee's
Decor.
Mustang Blankets, Totes
Mustang Morns are selling Mustang
blankets and Mustang shoulder tote bags.
Blankets are 20 and the tote bags are 6
and are a perfect size for gym clothes. Be
looking for them at the Mustang games or
contact Benita Crain at 236-5119, Kristie
Fox at 235-2087, or any Mustang Mom
will be able to help you.
Self Defense Clinic
Team Chip Tae Kwon Do will offer a
free women's self defense clinic, to be
held the second Tuesday of every month.
The clinic is open to ladies ages 12 and
up. It will be at Team Chip in Sweetwater,
located at 1500 Cypress in Sweetwater at
7:30 p.m.
SHS Yearbooks
2010 Sweetwater High School year-
books maybe picked up in Room 216 at
SHS. A few extra copies are available to
purchase.
Lady Mustangs
The Sweetwater Lady Mustangs are hav-
ing several fundraisers this year includ-
ing the sale of Lady Mustangs t-shirts and
Lady Mustang window decals. Call 235-
1170 or see a Lady Mustang to order.
Kiwanis Club
The Sweetwater Kiwanis Club meets at
noon every Wednesday, at Bee's Decor,
located at 311 Oak Street.
Low Income Tax Clinic
The Texas Tech School of Law oper-
ates a Low-Income Tax Clinic to provide
assistance relating to issues involving
controversies with the Internal Revenue
Service to low-income taxpayers and to
individuals for whom English is a sec-
ond language. Law students, under the
supervision of a law professor, handle
a wide range of issues such as inno-
cent spouse, offers in compromise, fed-
eral tax levies, payment agreements and
representation before the United States
Tax Court. Persons interested in seeking
representation should contact the Texas
Tech Law School Low Income Tax Clinic

further information or to schedule an
