Band will present a concert in
Bastrop as part of its 2.500 mile

Appearing with the Texas Luth-
eran College Concert Band this
year i.- Anita Windecker, a pia-
nist with the college music facul-
ty. who made her debut in Car-
negie Concert Hall.
T h e TLC key'board artist is
well-known in central Texas as
a teacher of many students of the
piano and as c recitalist who ha.s
perofrmed extensively throughout
the area Her piano technique has
has a clean and incisive quality
with a strong rhythmic favor.
Professor Windecker started the
piano - organ department with
three students in 1950, short-
ly after the college became a
four-year institution. Since that
time the department has grown
extensively in students and mu-
sic faculty.
Anita Windecker began her pia-
no career at the age of five. While
in high school she studied with
Alois Braun, formerly of Vienna,
Austria. She is a graduate of Tex-
as Lutheran and holds a master's
degree in music from the Univer-
sity of Texas.
The talented pianist w a s en-
couraged to tour Europe in the
early 1950 s. While in New York
she was coached by such noted
pianists as Byron Janis. Adele
Marcus and Gygory Sandor.
On tour Miss Windecker will
play the first movement of the
Grieg CONCERTO IN A MINOR
and Gershwin's RHAPSODY IN
BLUE with t h e Concert Band.
Other solo selections will be of-
fered.
Miss Windecker is a member
o fthe Sigma Alpha Iota musical
honoray fraternity and is organist
at Emanuel's Lutheran Giurch in
Seguin — one of the largest Luth-
eran congregations in Texas.

4.000 Foot Wildcat
Staked on Farm of
Leonard Snyder
A 4.000 foot wildcat has been
staked by Hamby Drilling Co. on
the farm of Leonard Snyder, lo-
cated 10 miles west of Bastrop
on Highway 71.
A. L. Hamby of Damon. Texas,
the drilling contractor, has been
in the business for many years.
He has staked wildcats and made
some discovery wells in sections
of Bastrop County and all over
Texas.
Mr. Hamby is presently staying
in Bastrop, although his home is
