movement. Ualveatoa Newt.
We will stale to Mr. T. J. Russell Esq.
and those who voted for his resolution
that w vol no! Th Tyler Index and
Jefferson Radical and their supporters
will go for th resolution. We would like
very much lo see a great city built up at
Babin 1'ass but we cannot afford to lose
Galveston and our half interest in Hous-
ton aud Ih Central Railroad and all the
country between th Trinity and ;the Br-
xos rivers to build up a city in the south-
east corner of lb Stat. Wait until we
get th Government out of th hands of
Urant Davis Duller & Co. and w will
tbiuk of the division question. But Con-
gress under the load of Spoony Butler has
a way of "guaranteeing lo the States a re-
publican form of government" that is not
in accord with our Democratic notions
and we do not want any more of th sort
that has been dished out to "Texas and
Uie nine other Southern States lately in
rebellion" in ours.
It would be indeed tuioidal in (he peo-
ple of East Texas to now divide. A Radi-
cal East Texas with a Don Campbell or a
Geo. W. Whitmor at its head and a small
one hoi s oity at Sab'ne Pass would tie all
that we would get by it at a cost of about
