and First Called Session
During its 2011 regular session, the 82nd Texas Legislature enacted
1,379 bills and adopted 11 joint resolutions after considering more than
6,000 measures filed. It also enacted eight bills during the first called
session. This report includes many of the highlights of the regular session
and the first called session. It summarizes some proposals that were
approved and some that were not. Also included are arguments offered for
and against each measure as it was debated. The legislation featured in this
report is a sampling and not intended to be comprehensive.

sessions include those examining the bills vetoed by the governor and the
constitutional amendments on the November 8, 2011 ballot, as well as an
