AUSTIN April 24. Replying to Gov
Campbell's Easter message In the Sen-
ate today E. G. Senter the Dallas
member sharply scored the governor
Bank Comlssloner Love and the guar-
anty measure. Senter said that the
Governor's Easter message was "petu-
jlent personal and a regular cam-
paign circular."
The recalled message took the leg-
islature to task for not enacting the
bank guaranty measure and also scor-
ed them heavily along other lines. Sen-
ter declares that the message was un-
just in every particular and inaccur-
ate. He especially resented the Gov-.
ernor'B attitude and his declaration
that the proposed banking law In-
troduced In the Senate is nothing more
than a "sham and a fraud"
The Cnretou Bill
Senator Senter in turn stuck the
harpoon into the Cureton bank deposit.
guaranty bill declaring that it was a
"sham apd a fraud." He did not hes-
itate to go to extreme lengths In re-
ferring to the Cureton measure as
"the foulest heresy as to politics" and
as being "Master Plro of Deception.'1'
Senter explained by saying that the
Cureton or administration falsely pre
tends to guarantee the doposlts but
that in operation It would only servo
to cause a run on the stato banks In
times of panic or trouble; that It
would lead to business failures and
cause a general Industrial upheaval.
His Own Measure
Senter proceeded to state that the
Senter-Hume bank guaranty bill repro
sented safe and sane policies. He then
described the 'method? of operation or
other bills showing wherein his meas-
ure was better than the Cureton bill
and would reBult In much more goqd
for tho state at large. Ho also denied
that tho Farnus Union was support-
ing tho Cuieton measure snylng that
some few of them had been deceived
as to the bill's true moaning.
Senter began speaking at eleven o'-
clock this morning and will likely
continue several hours. His remarks
lmvccaused nstir among the senators
but have cieated no surprise as ho
had already announced what IiIb
speech would be like
III Tho House.
After reconsidering the vote by
which tho Cox amendment to tho bill
to extend the state railroad wbb de-
feated In the house yesterday (t was
today adopted as an amendment by a
vote of CI to 45. The amendment cuts
out the one hundred mile extension.
Membora favored the amendment pre-
ferring to stand for It rather than run
the risk of tho Senate killing the en-
tire measure.
Ray brought Culberson Into the lime
HglH today when he moved that the
Senators speech against tho govern"
ment ownership of railroads be prin-
ted in the Journal of the house. After
a fow minutes tension the motion was
defeated by the Senate.
