Notes

"Nan Travis Hospital, first known as Cherokee Sanitarium as it was when this photo was taken, was preparing to open its first brick building when this was taken. The hospital was renamed Nan Travis Memorial Hospital years later in memory of the mother of Dr. J. M. Travis and Dr. R. T. Travis, who were among its founders. In the background is the former home of Dr. and Mrs. E. E. Guinn, which housed the hospital from 1919 until 1925. Dr. Guinn operated the first clinic in Jacksonville on the second story of his drug store at S. Main and Rusk Sts. Today the hospital occupies all of the space bounded by S. Ragsdale, Thompson Lane, S. Main, and Nacogdoches Sts. and includes a Professional Building for physicians' offices and other medical services on the site of this 1925 building. The Professional Building was opened in 1985."
