The Chamber of Commerce is
planning an informal celebration
at •> o'clock in the afternoon of
July llh to initiate the flow of
pure, fresh water into the city
main from I,ake McCarty, the
new source of city .supply.
The program is btdnjf arranged
by Mayor J. Carter KiiiR, Jr., and
Boy Matthews, water commission-
er. These two men have worked a
long time to insure the completion
of this sorely needed water sup-
ply, and are anxious to share the
joy of results nf this work.
Speeches and music will furnish
the entertainment for the short
program. No refreshments are
being planned, but any one who
w ishes to bring along a picnic bas-
| ket for family or friends will be
j welcomed to spread it somewhere
along the beautiful lake shores and
I enjoy the cooling breezes and the
! beautiful scenery after the pro-
1 gram is closed.
Kveryone is invited to drive out
and enjoy a short outing, meet hia
friends, and witness the history
making event of turning the new
water into the city mains.
The six-mile 10-inch water line
will In completed about the middle
of next week, as only a few hun-
dred feet remain to be laid. This
water will flow to the city water
plant by gravity, where it will be
treated and then pumped into the
; tandpipe.

Tlioma Wylie, who has been
home on a two weeks vacation, left
Sunday for Dallas where he enlist-
ed in the U. S. Navy. He notified
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Wylie, Tuesday that he had been
accepted and was leaving for San
Diego, Calif. Thomas has been
employed in the Lockheed avia-
tion plant in Los Angeles.
