56th
Armored
Infantry
Battalion
Our 23rd Annual Reunion is over
and it has been a very successful
year for our 56th. We've hit a
new high in membership with 165
members. This is a gain of over
50 per cent from our membership
three years ago.
Our own, Vic Challen of B Co.
was elected President of the 12th
Armored Div. Ass'n after many
years of devoted service to the
Ass'n and our 56th. We can look
forward to another year of growth
and prosperity.
Nick Hardony of C Co. was re-
elected as treasurer and his guid-
ence speaks for itself when you
read the year-end finiancal state-
ment of the Ass'n.
Dot and I are on vacation at
this writing and presently in
Salina, Kans. That wife of mine
sure keeps busy at reunions. She
and Wanda Challen worked for
three days at the registration
desk. She not only has to watch
over me and my diet, she has to
see that Hendricks, our secretary,
watches his. (Editor's Note: Just
watching over me is a full time
job.)
Many of the 56th men we ex-
pected at the reunion didn't show.
However the gang that attended
from our 56th had a wonderful
time - - as usual.
More to follow about the re-
union in the October issue.

association for in planning the
annual meeting and reunion.
In addition to the above definite
proposals that will be made to the
Executive Council, this letter is
also to advise you that two other
proposals may be made. These
would be on raising the annual
dues; and the duties of directors
of the corporation.
Both these topics (dues and
duties of directors) were mention-
ed in responses received to my
previous letters. Dues are now
$4.00 annually. I feel that any
change in dues should be on the
recommendation of the president,
treasurer and secretary, who are
best qualified to just the coming
needs of the association.
Sincerely,
Leonard P. Dooley
