The stage is set for the initial
performance of the 1979 Albany
Nativity which will be given at
7:00 p.m., with a second presenta-
tion at 8:15 p.m., Thursday and
Friday nights of this week, De
cember 20-21, at the Nancy Smith
Elementary School auditorium.
Marge Broy Director
Mrs. John Bray, director* ex
pressed no tension over the sue
cess of this year's performance.
"We have a beautiful presen
tation ready." she said. "All we
need is four full houses to play
to."
Tickets are going very well,
said Mrs. Harold Law at the
Chamber of Commerce office
Monday, as she answered a busy
telephone. "We have stopped
mailing out the tree tickets." she
said, "for fear that they will not
reach their destination in time.
We are simply answering re-
quests for tickets by marking
them and tiling them. They can be
picked up at the dour." Tickets
are free upon request. •
Choir rehearsals have gone
smoothly under the direction of
Weldort McCutchen. working with
adults, and Sharon McCutchen.
children's director. "We-feel that
a 'live' adult choir singing back
ground music, as was done in the
beginning \ ears of t he Nativity. is
a real improvement." said Mrs
Bray. In the interim recorded
musical scores have been used.
Stage sets and beautiful
costumes, used and preserved
carefully from year to year, are
t a miliar to thr audience. "This
year Marza White made three
angel costumes," reported the
director. "Marza, who is always
willing to tackle whatever needs
doing, is now working on wigs."
Many of the beards and other
details of makeup for men have to
be put on by hand and this is a
painstaking chore, she added.
This type of work is done by
Murle Howard. Women in the
makeup room are Diana Nail and
Sue Breeden.
Johnny King, local "wonder
worker." according to Mrs. Bray,
has installed the lights; Clifford
Teinert and crew have put up the
decorations "The cedar garland-
go pretty fast, once you get as
assembly; line going." said Nema
Westmoland, member of the coir,
mittee "Of course, it's pretty
hard on your hands. But nobody
seems to mind it."
A refreshment committee and
entertainment committee, com
posed of parents and church mem
hers., have made all the arraoge
ments to feed the youngsters r
the cast and keep them e ter
tamed with stories and movies in
the tradition of the Nativity It -
