Morgan took $500,000 of Coke's
bonds, and the Express said at the
time that lie would ask favorsofTex-
as in payment for it. The iirst pay-
ment he asks is, that wo shall elect
his engineer to Congress. This is
not the end, either. Let Coke and
his Legislature pay him. Western
Texas, and especially San An-
tonio, have nothing to pay him for
but the injury he has done us.
Schleicher buys and sells hud for
him, and helps him to make money
at the expense of Western Texas
and San Antonio. Let Schleicher
look to his master, Chas. Morgan,
for his rewards. We want neither
hira nor Morgan, and will not touch
theiu.
Coke's administration has bro
ken down our public schools, and
yet the Goliad Convention indorses
it, am! gives lis a Coke nominee for
Congress. In this city two gentle-
men advertise to teach a pay school
in one of onr public school build-
ings, for $3 and $4 a month per
scholar. The masses of tbe people
are not able to pay it. Their child-
ren must quit going to school. Shall
th e m a sses of t h e peopl e be co m pel led
to support an administration that
has done them this injury? Will
they support Coke's man, and Mor
gan's monopoly tool? No, never!

Moulton refused to be cross ex
amined, and the committee there-
fore refused to receive his loug state-
ment
Moulton says he has "said his
say," and will say no more.
Beecher is to deliver a series of
lectures in Boston this fall.
Mrs. S. B. Anthony indignantly
scouts Bessie's account of her sit-
ting ou Tilton's lap.
Mrs. Tiltou is still sojourning with
Mrs. Ovington in the country.
Tiiton admits that he and the an-
cient Susan were caught iu an ein-
barassing attitude.
Mr. Oviugton speaks of Bessie
Turner as an honest, spirited, fasci-
nating girl, devoted to Mrs. Tiltou,
and averse to Tiiton.
The pulpits of nearly all the
churches in the North speak strong-
ly in favor of Beecher.
Beecher is quiet and sileut in the
White Mountains, and pays no at-
tention to Moulton's loug statement.
Inteniewers can get nothiug out ot
him.
The Tiiton lawsuits do not seem
to be regarded as of any importance
by the lawyers on either side.
Tiiton aud two stenographers are
i engaged ou another "statement."'
I Good Lord deliver us!
Mr. Sage, chairman of the inves-
tigating committee, describes the
scene at Mr. Beecher's house when
his statement was read. Astonish-
ing as it may seem, Mr. Beecher had
never told his wife or any member
of his family the facts of this case.
By special request all were present
on that occasion, with a single ex-
ception, Mrs. Stowe was there, and
Mrs. Beecher sat by her husband's
side, with one of his hands iu both
of hers—the wife by this simple act
expressing, as words could not ex-
press, her confidence- in her bus-
; band's iunocence.
Rev, Dr. Leonard Bacon, whose
i foolish denunciation of Tiiton, as' a
knave and a dog," precipitated the
whole scandal, is satisfied with
Beecher's statement.

eipucity tor 250,000 bushels, making a
total capacity of 1,750,000 bushels. One
thousand cords of masonry form tbe foun-
dation, and in the siiperstujcjure are
4,000,000 feet of lumber and 1,000,000
brick. There are twenty-two elevators
