year's champion, Jimmy Holmes of
Shamrock and Amarillo, met tire
1963 runner-up, Jimmy Wilcoxon,
a Texas Tech student from Chil-
dless. wilcoxon turned the tables
this year by defeating Holmes, 3-2,
The longest match was played
by two Shamrock golfers, Harry
Wye and Sol Blonsteln. Playing in
the first round of the first flight,
Frye defeated Blonsteln. 1-up on
24 holes.
The winner of each flight receiv-
ed a $100.00 gift certificate, and
a $75.00 gift certificate went to

GROUND BREAKING FOR A NEW
SANCTUARY for the First Methodist
Church of Shamrock will be held Sun-
day, June 28, and construction is expec-
ted to begin about August 1. The new
sanctuary will he built west of the pres-
ent building and will face west on Main
Street. Of contemporary design, it will
have a seating capacity of 300, with a
balcony capacity of 80. Constructed of
brick, it will be air-conditioned and will
be designed with a divided chancel em-
phasizing the Cross, the altar and com-
munion table. The present building will
he remodeled into a three-story educa-
tional unit. A large fellowship hall, kitch-
en and class rooms will be on the first
floor. The second floor will contain of-
fices, chapel, nursery and class rooms,
and the third floor will be given over to
the children’s departments. It will be
air-conditioned throughout.

Resident Succumbs
Mr. and Mrs. Max Christianson
and two sons were called to Mon-
tana earlier this month because of
the death of his mother, Mrs. W.
O Keller.
Mrs. Keller, whope home was In
Terry, Montana, died Wednesday,
June 3, and funeral services were
held Monday, June 8.
