Why We Were Late.
Tbe Progress was very late last
week, in fact the edition that should
have been ready f» r the mails Fri-
day morning of last week, was not
mailed until Tueeday morning of
this week. This was due to the
fset that tbe gas engine which
furnishes the motive power to
print the Progress, refused to oper-
ate Thursday evening of last week,
and with the help of all tbe ma-
chinists in town, the Progress
force, from the devil down, was
unable to master the situation and
make the engine pall. We are in-
debted to Henry Alexander for tbe ,
