The Texas Theatre — one of Sweetwater's most recognizable landmarks — is
slated for a refurbishing. Community groups have been raising money in an
effort to restore the once proud cinema house that is now appears dilapidated
and abandoned. Moving one step closer to the goal, Mahaffev Construction
operated the crane, and Davison Signs will handle the restoration of the sign.
According to Tom Henderson, the sign will be cleaned and restored but not
altered. The same sign will be reattached, and more work will be done on the
inside and outside of the building.

FAA events
BY BRIAN MCCORMACK
Staff Writer

variety of agricultural activities for students to compete
in. Travis White, who will be a senior next school at
Blackwell High, has recently been named chapter presi-
dent of the organization, and he regularly competes in
FFA sanctioned events across the state. A longtime pas-
sion of WTiite's, he explains his involvement with the
group, "1 have been doing it since the third grade," he
said. "Now, I show heifers and calfs".
In addition to showing and judging livestock events,
White also participates in the always wild calf scram-
bles. The object, according to White, is to catch, halter,
and rein in a calf. It is harder than it sounds, however,
