In a well worn and marked band
bible. owned and used by the deceas-
ed. on the page opening at tin* I 1th
chapter of St. John, a paper was found
containing a brief biography of
the deceased and under the date of
April 7, 1910. on the bible page was a
signed request that this chapter be
read at her funeral. Between tin*
same two leaves there were fastened
the marked words and music of two
songs. "The Cross of Christ" and
"Rock of Ages.” Tin* chapter was
read and the songs were sung and a
touching sermon full with comfort to
the surviving relatives was delivered
by Rev. Donaldson. In this bible.
which for many years the deceased
had faithfully companioned and dili-
gently read were found numbers of
clippings in verse, a marked one of
which from the gifted pen of Kll.i
Wheeler Wilcox, reads as follows
I know as my life grows older.
And mine eyes h a \ • • clear' i sight.
That under each rank vv mug. some

There lies the root of right.
That each sorrow has its purpose-
lly the sorrowing oft unguessed.

Sometimes by the heart’s unrest.
And to grow means often to suffer.

And all things work together
For the final good of man.
And I know when my soul speeds on-

In Its grand, eternal quest.
I shall fray, as I look hack earthward.
Whatever is--Is best.
In addition to the near relatives
mentioned above the deceased leaves
another brother and two sisters as
follows: Ed 8. Whitacre of Hinton.
Texas; Mrs. Matthew Mobs of Ungle-
