SHS Campus Council Meeting
Sweetwater High School will have a
campus council meeting at 3:45 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 30, at SHS. The meet-
ing is open to tne public.
Elks Hamburger Night
The Sweetwater Elks Lodge #1257 will
have a hamburger night on Wednesday,
Sept. 30, 2009. The meal will begin at 6
p.m. and will continue until the food is
gone. Everyone is invited to attend and
plates are $4 per person. The Elks Lodge
is located on Loop 170. Anyone under
21 must be accompanied by a parent or
guardian.
Thursday, Oct. 1
Retired School Employees
The Rolling Plains Unit of Retired
School Employees will meet at 11:30
a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at the
Sweetwater Country Club. The meal will
be followed by a program and business
meeting. All retired school employees
from Nolan and Fisher Counties are
invited to attend and be a part of the
monthly meetings on the first Thursday
of each month.

Monday, Oct. 5
Big Country Dance
The Big Country Dance will take place
from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5,
2009, at the Nolan County Coliseum
Annex. Entertainment will be provided
by Muddy Creek. Admission is $5 per
person.
Immunization Clinic
There will be a free immunization
clinic from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5,
2009, at the Mall of Abilene, across from
El Chico's. The clinic is sponsored by the
Abilene Care Van, Caring For Children
Foundation. No appointments are nec-
essary. Parents are asked to bring their
child's immunization records. Children
under 18 years of age must be accompa-
nied by a parent or guardian. For more

Blood Drives
There will be two blood drives in
Sweetwater on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009,
from noon until 6 p.m. One bloodmo-
bile will be parked in the Nolan County
Courthouse parking lot. A second blood-
mobile will be parked in front of the
Lions Club building located at 1501
Lamar. Each donor will receive a T-shirt
and a free total cholesterol test.
Tuesday, Oct. 6
Let's Talk Books
Let's Talk Books, the book club of the
County-City Library, will meet at noon
on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, in the meet-
ing room at the library. The book selec-
tion is "A Personal Country," by A.C.
Greene. Sack lunches will be provided
for the first 12 people for a $4 donation.

Story Hour at the County-City Library
for parents and their children will be
held on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 10:45 a.m.

Friday, Oct. 2
Elks Food Drive
The Sweetwater Elks Lodge #1257 will
have a food drive for the lodge pantry.
The drive will be from 6 p.m. to mid-
night on Friday, Oct. 2. Cost of admis-
sion is two small or one large can of
non-perishable food products or $3 per
person. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Elks Lodge is located on Loop 170.

Saturday, Oct. 3
Rhcnia Valfey Speaker
Rhema Valley will be hosting a special
presentation given by speaker Bruce
Rapp of Jews for Jesus. Rapp will be
speaking on “Gospel in the Feasts of
Israel.” Admission is free at 6 p.m.

Church, located at 3304 E. Broadway
Membership Drive
The American Legion Post 227 in
Roscoe will be holding its annual mem-
bership drive on Saturday, Oct. 3 begin-
ning at 3 p.m. at the American Legion
building in Roscoe. A meal will be served
at 6 p.m., and all members and potential
members are encouraged to attend this
function and socialize.
Benefit Dance
A benefit dance for Brooke Roberts
Bailey and her children will be held on
Saturday, Oct. 3rd beginning at 7 p.m.
The dance will be held at the Jaycee
Barn located at 4th St. and Cypress
in Sweetwater. Brisket sandwiches will
be sold for $5.00. Live music by Blaze
of Glory will be featured from 9 p.m.
until midnight. There will be a $5 cover
charge and a $5 cooler charge. The
dance is B.Y.O.B.
Quilt Show
Midland Quilters Guild is hosting its
2009 Quilt Show, Threads of Our Past:
Celebrating 30 years on Saturday, Oct.
3, at the Midland Center (105 N. Main)
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adults are $5;
Seniors $3; 12 years and under free.
Masons
Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will
have a called meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 6, 2009, to confer a Master degree.
All members are urger to attend. Visitors
are welcome.
Diabetes Outreach
The Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital
Diabetes Outreach Program will present
a program entitled, "Sick Days, Special
Care When You Sick." The program will
be from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009,
in the Emergency Room Classroom.
Everyone is welcome and participants
are asked to go in through the outpatient
entrance on Jenny George Lane.

SHS Picture Day
Student pictures will be taken on
Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Sweetwater
High School. Information packets will
be sent home with students. Senior re-
take pictures will also be held that day.

FFA Hamburger Supper
The Sweetwater FFA will host a ham-
burger slipper from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 9, 2009, at the Sweetwater High
School cafeteria. The cost of the meal
will be $7 and will include a hamburger,
fixins, beans, potato salad, cobbler and
tea or coffee.
Golf Tournament
The TDCJ Wallace/Ware Complex
will have the 7th Annual SECC Golf
Tournament Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the
Wolf Creek Golf Course. Registration
will begin at 7 a.m. with a shotgun
start at 9 a.m. The fee is $50 per player
(including green fee, cart and lunch)
and all proceeds benefit Christmas In
Action and the Correction Peace Officer
Foundation. Teams must be signed up by
Friday, Oct. 2, 2009. For more informa-

FBC Blackwell Centennial
The First Baptist Church of Blackwell
will be holding 10 a.m. sermon, followed
by live Christian music acts, a fried
chicken dinner and other activities in
honor of its 100th year anniversary. The
