earns Scout’s highest rank
David Lee Meine has be-
come Troop 266’s most re-
cent Eagle Scout He was
presented the dadge of Sc-
outing’s highest rank by E-
agle Scout Gary Scofield. T-
he Eagle Charge (or chal-
lange) was issued by Mr.
Ernest Thomas, Division Fi-
eld Director-Boy Scouts of
America.
Other participants in the
presentation included Troop
266 Eagle Scouts Clarance
Smith and Byron Welch. As
he progressed through the
ranks of advancement, Ea-
gle Scout Meine has also

trol Leader, Assistant Se-
nior Patrol Leader, and Jr.
Assistant Scoutmaster of A-
dvancements (his present p-
osition in the troop).
He also helped form a
new troop in the neighbor-
hood, serving as acting Se-
nior Patrol Leader for se-
veral months last year. He
has participated in all ph-
ases of Junior Leader T-
raining, including success-
fully completing the week-
long Junior Leader Devel-
opment Training Camp. He
is Brotherhood in the Order
of Arrow.
His Eagle Community Se-
rvice Project was a make-
up 20 mile walk for the Ma-
rch of Dimes ( the origi-
nal wlak was impaired by
incliment weather andacon-
| flicting Scout activity.)
A highlight in Meine’s Sc-
outing career was partici-
pation in the troop’s 70 mile
Philmont expedition in Aug.
1972. This was his second
trip to Philmont, the Natio-
nal Scout Ranch in the Ro-
cky Mountain range near Cl-
in maron, New Mexico.
A junior at Lamar, David
is a member of the Red-
skin band. In addition to
his other activities, he wo-
rks about 20 hours a week
at J.H.H. Super Market
