Special to The Monitor
MABANK-The Mabank Chapter of the United
Daughters of the Confederacy met Oct. 20, to share
family stories and histories, and help others learn more
about their families, at the Tri-County Library.
Texas Convention attendees Carolyn Carter,
Jacque Vaughn, Ruth Shelton and Glenda King also
gave a report on the event.
The Mabank Chapter won first place for its web
site and Sarah Kendrick won Most Senior Member
with a Supplement.
The Mabank Chapter has received both awards
for two years in a row.
Texas Division also remembered all of the mem-
bers that died this year with a moving ceremony. Flow-
ers were placed on a wreath as each name was called.
Margaret Hill was among the members. Glenda King
shared with us the history of the Magazine Works in
Jefferson, which is the only works still standing after
the War Between the States.
Also discussed, was the making of Rag Dolls,
sometimes known as Wagon Train Dolls.
Chapter members voted to collect items for the
Museum to giveaway to children during their upcoming
tour and to obtain a booth at one of the local events
this year to distribute information about the chapter.
Women interested in researching their family his-
tory in relation to the UDC, are always welcome.
The next Mabank Chapter of the United Daugh-
ters of the Confederacy meeting is set for 1 p.m. Sat-
urday, Nov. 17, at the Tri-County Library.

Bully is a beautifully cin-
