Trivia

I doubt if thre ever was a news-
paper published at any time with-
out at least one error. With sev-
eral thousands words, of various
sires and types, printed each week,
there undoubtedly will be mistakes
bob up unexpectedly, and some-
times they are quite amusing—or
embarrassing.
• * •
And this situation occurred
in the Archer County News
last week. Not to say that it
was the first such mistake we
have made, because careful
reading will uncover numerous
typographical errors each week.
But this certainly was the
most obvious.
• • •
On the front page, if you recall
there was a story telling of the
coming style show for the benefit
of the Home Demonstration Club
and the swimming pool, and the
third line of the headline read
“An Honest Mistake.”
• • •
!f !; the policy of most news-
papers to print corrections
when mistakes cast bad reflec-
tions on persons or organisa-
tions, but in this case I feel an
out-and-out apology Is neces-
sary. The particular line get-
ting all the ettention should
have been placed over a story
on page S about a college stu-
dent who took a newspaper
and mailed six cents to pay
the balance.

It seems like a
good deal all around, certainly not
an “honest mistake,” that worthy
projects will get the profits, local
citizens will get a look at new
spring clothing, and all the mer-
chants will get a chance to show
off their wares.
