Wm Campbell had an opportunity of
putting the money inaiket of Sherman
to a practical te«t Wednesday. He went
up there to close out a fine stock ot dry-

crowd of forty or fifty men in the auction
room. After crying his stock for one

that was put up, which received a bid. he
had taken in just lour dollars and futeen

such a dearth of money in Sherinan as the
sale indicated, he offered a siiver half
dollar to the highest bidder. It yvas
finally sold to a negro for thirty cents,
and that was the only bid k The negro
got his half dollar but Campbell closed
