This machine is one of the closest
approaches that mechanics have
made to the dexterity of the human
baud. It is about the heighth and
size of a lady's sewing machine, only
much stronger. Oo the lleft sule at
the back, a {igbt he It, descends from
a kmg shaft in the ceiling that drives
all the machines, ranged in rows on
the floor. On the left side of the
machine hangs dn a peg a reel of
wire that has been straightened by
running through a compound sys-
tem of small rollers. The wire de-
scends, and the end enters the
machine. This is the food consumed
by the voracious little dwarf. He
pulls it in and bites it off by inches

concave face, hits the end of the wire
three times, “upsets” it to a head,
while he grips >t to a counter sunk
hole between his teeth. With an
outward thrust with his tongue, lie
then lays the pin sideways in a little
groove across, the rim of a small
wheel that slowly revolves. By the
external pressure of a stationary hoop,
these pins roil in their places as they
are carried under two series of small
flies, three in each. The tiles grow
liner toward the end of the series.
They lie at a slight inclination on the
p: n$, and a series of cams, levers
: nd springs are made to play like
lig lining. Thus the pins are drop-
ped in a little shower in a box.

Mrs. J. B. McCrum, residing at
58 Parsons street, gave birth to twins
(a girl and boy) last Friday night,
that weighed, together, three pounds
and five ounces. The children are
well formed and at .his writing are
doing well. They are the smallest
living children we have ever heard
of. The father and mother are large,
healthy people, and have raised sev-
eral children. A tea cup will more
than cover the head of either of them.
Their bed is a paper box filled with
cotton and they are dressed in doll’s
clothes. Large numbers of people
have called to see the little things,
and the rush finally became so great
that the attending physician had to
forbid the visits of people, as it had
an injuriouscfl'ectuponMrs. McCrum.
Over one hundred people called at
the house in one day.—Kalamazoo
(Mic/i.s) Gazette.
The true statement of the taking
possession of the Governor’s office
at the Capital, we understand, is
this: Governor Coke was informed
on Monday, by the private secretary
ol Davis, that the office would be
ready for turning over at 12 o’clock
011 that day, with a protest, which it
was supposed, would be in writing.
No mention was made of any force
to be applied. The natural conclu-
sion was that the keys were to he de-
livered up and peaceable possession
given. The hour arrived, and no
notice came of a readiness to deliver
or any change of purpose on the
part of Davis. After waiting until
4 o’clock, the Governor, with the
sergeant-at-arms and a few others,
proceeded to the office, and found it
locked, with 110 key in the door,
which was then broken open. The
whole conduct of Davis in this mat-
ter was treacherous, undignified and
cotemptible, and finds no approval
among any of our citizens, whether
Democrats or Republicans.—States-
man. •
